Discussion:
steer chain

I belive I have a 30sctt, but could be wrong. The numbers where hard to make out. The chain going from the front of the hilo to the rear has come off. The company I am working for does not have info on this unit. I'm not sure if the whole chain needs to be replaced, or if the is someway to put it back together using this one. The rear tire spins fine, and that chain is intack. But the other one is laying on the ground. Any help in the right direction of fixing this will be great. Thank you

Local Crown dealer!!! Ask for picture page... point out what parts you need and they will sell them to you. Something that old, parts may not be in stock and will have to be ordered.

It is up in the air. It appears that the "adjuster" is what is broke. Where would I pick up replacement parts for this unit? I'm guessing it would be good to replace the chain as well as the adjuster. One final question. Does the chain go end to end, and the adjuster links them together? I don't have another one to look at for reference?

Jack and block the machine up in the air and look under there. I think there is 2 chains, one from the hand steering wheel shaft to a jackshaft and then one from the jack shaft back to the steer wheel. It is #40 roller chain. There a special adjuster that attaches to one end to adjust it to the proper slack. It just uses regular connector links to connect it. It's a fairly easy job once you can see under the machine by getting it up in the air.
