Discussion:
brakes locking up

Hey there i am currently working on a fork lift and trying to trouble shoot a problem of the left brake locking up, it will lock up even if you gently push the brake pedal but the right one is working fine i tried adjusting it back a bit and bleeding the brakes but still did nothing. I am thinking that maybe the wheel cylinder has failed but i am not very experienced with fork lifts so if anyone has some insight that would be much appreciated.

have you pulled the axles and removed the drums to do an inspection on the components, it sounds like the left side is working and the right side is the one with an issue, possible axle seal leak reducing the friction of the right side. if all looks good make sure the shoes are adjusted properly. there could also be a stuck adjuster or a seized park brake cable not allowing proper function
