Discussion:
Fuel Pressure Sensor

Hi All,

I'm working on a FGT25T-14 (589108A) and after about ten minutes of running the truck will not allow any throttle action, I believe its in the fuel pressure sensor. I'm curious if the screw in fuel pressure sensor is a common failure point on these trucks and if anyone has any advice on this condition.

Thanks in advance!

It is possible that the computer was seeing a overheating condition in what they call step one that would go into limp mode and after it sits or is restarted would go away but with no check engine light only guess see if problem goes away hope l was some help.

Hey Thank you the water was low about half a gallon on the truck., but no leaks, I'll keep an eye on it. Oil didn't look contaminated either, I'll just have to keep watching it.

First make sure you are getting water to it and there is no blockage in the hoses and pipes it needs hot water to flow to keep it from freezing up make sure your rad is full and the motor is not aaoverheating and has flow to block first before you by a converter it is a Nikki converter and they are not cheap also check the pressure at top there is a plug looks like has a Phillips screw driver slot of you must remove and install gauge it should get 5psi when running and cranking could see more with key on but should be about 5psi running.also make sure there is no air in block there is a Small l believe 10mm bolt at water pump open it up and make sure you have water and no air if rad low could have air in block

Pull the floorboards on the left side near the fuse boxes the connecter has a dust cover over it it is a small square connector it only uses four wires after you pull the dust cover it is a female connecter a male cable fits in then on the other end is the obd 2 connector to go to the scanner

That is a problem you have to try to repair dash first see if any plugs are not secure into dash also l believe there is a board underlay in the dash see if that is bad l believe key switch ignition controls the positive side of the light bulbs in the dash the check engine light l believe is controlled by the computer for ground. Check all fuses and wiring going to the bottom of dash if you do not address the dash problem you can not find this problem.

Ok are you trying to tell me that when you turn the key on the lights on the dash like like oil pressure and charging light and check engine light does not turn on and go out after the truck starts. Or are you telling me there is no check engine light that is on when the truck goes into limp mode

Ok I appreciate it, do you have any advice becasue non of the dash board lights up. This thing derates after about ten minutes of running. Shut it off and it will run smooth again sometimes instantly and some times after you let it cool down a little.

It is not a common problem for that part to go bad first if the check engine light is on you will have to scan it to see what code is in it and if not you will have to do the petal dance and count the blinks to see what code is causing truck to be in limp mode if you need to know what to do get back to me.you can not guess as to what is causing this.
