Discussion:
Forklift classification

Does Australia use the same 7 classification system for forklifts that we use in the US? In particular, we classify a Sit-Down Rider (tug, tow tractor) with a drawbar pull over 999 lbs as a class 6 powered industrial truck. The next question, would an operator up or stand up tow tractor with tiller steer and drawbar pull over 999 lbs be classified as a class 6 or a class 3 powered industrial truck? I believe because of the definitions (Class 3 Electric motor hand trucks or hand/rider trucks and Class 6 sit-down rider) it would fall into class 3 but the towing capacity makes me second guess that idea.
