I'm working on a 2004 Hyster S50XM, propane fuel, Mazda 2.0
The forklift intermittently does not start. When this happens, I have no power to the positive side of the coil. As I understand it, and correct me if I'm wrong, the pick-up coil triggers the module, which inputs to the ECM, which turns on power to the coil after the engine has cranked long enough to get the propane moving.
Now I've been reading about delay modules, seemingly to prevent starter nose cone breakage, and am questioning where it is installed, if it isn't what is labeled "emission control", then it must be in a secret squirrel location.
When all is working, there is about a 2 second delay between cranking initialization and power to the coil, then away she goes.

I guess you have tried new starter relay, verified battery voltage and alternator output. Serial number would help.

I found a module about the same as you described. This one has a yellow wire instead of a red wire. The part number on a white tag is 8507163 or the Hyster number is 2039306. I want to make sure that the modules are the same. If they are, jump the white and blue wires together, this will bypass the module. Should the numbers not match, I need to know what they are. Thanks.
Okay... I found the ignition relay module. It isn't the "emission control" module I thought.
The relay module has 4 wires.
Red= Hot with key on
Black= Ground
White= Output power to coil
Blue= Has ground until cranking for a second, then goes open. Returns to ground after engine stops turning.
My logic tells me the ground from the blue wire keeps the relay OFF , and once the engine starts turning, blue wire goes open and triggers power down the white wire to the coil.
If this is all true, what is the trigger that the blue wire is attached to. I suspect either the trigger on the blue wire is going bad, or the relay itself is the issue. It's a $200.00 part, and I'd really like to know where the blue wire comes from.

Based on what you're saying, the time delay must be integral to the "emission control" I mentioned. And, yes, it is below the air cleaner.
They decided to put a time delay on the engine start due to starter failures. Depending on the serial number, the module is either mounted next to the ignition coil or under the air cleaner. I know you can jump out the delay to make sure this is not your problem. You jump pins 1 and 2, then 3 to 5. This will open the solenoid for fuel and give the coil direct power. Should your lift start, need a need time delay module. If not possible broken wire and bad connection. Make sure all grounds are good and clean.
