Stuck in reverse

Help please,my V50D forklift,s/n 3ECO399 is stuck in reverse.I checked switch,wire harness,selnoid packs,cleaned valves and it is still stuck in reverse,in reverse-reverse,in neutral-reverse,forward-locks up like both gears are engaged. Have not been able to locate a shop manual yet and out of idea's what to do next. Any help/ideas? Thanks big ox

It would seem you are correct sir,It is in reverse with direction switch unhooked,and fluid drained. Thanks again for the input and help from you and every one else. BigOx

I think you're at the point where you need to jack the front wheels off the ground, drain the transmission, and start it up. The torque convertor will still have oil in it but the transmission pressure will be zero. If it still goes backwards, the clutch is jammed and the transmission needs to come out. It is a 15 minute test and a positive diagnosis.

Yes I reversed the spools and no change.I pulled the two plugs on the valve body located to the right of the pilot valves and removed the spools and springs and every thing looked good too me.reassembled everything and still have the same problem. I,ll try to list my email again. Thanks for your help and info.

I can send you a diagram of the f and r spool valves. Did you take the solenoids off, pull the spools out, and reverse them as a test? You will need to list your email address in your user info box.

I have reversed the pilot control valves and no change.I,ll try the neutral test and see what happens. not sure about location of control valves that would need inspecting,still looking for a service books for this s/n machine. Anybody willing to share a diagram? s/n 3ECO399 Cat.V50D Thanks

try swapping the fwd and rev solenoids and see if the problem reverses itself. If it does then you have a bad solenoid valve. If not then the problem is internal to the transmission control valve. One of the valves in the control valve is stuck or a broken spring or something. You will have to physcially remove these and inspect them for sticking, dirt, or broken parts or wear.
you can also just remove the wires from the solenoids and it should just sit there in neutral, if not then like i said, start in the control valve and go from there.

It is possible there is an internal clutch issue but i would check the things i mentioned first before tearing the tranny apart.

It sure sounds like your reverse clutch discs are warped or broken and jammed. Drain the transmission fluid and if it still wants to go backwards, it's bad news.
