2007 model EASIOPC30TT, the truck tracks nice and straight either on the wire or off when traveling tractor first. As soon as we try to back up, the drive unit turns approximately 10 degrees and the truck will track to the left. No codes unless you are on the wire when this happens, and then those are just 9 series codes from losing the wire. I swapped the steer amplifier, no change, and the steering is centering itself perfectly on start-up. There is no play in the drive unit, and this happens at any steer position, even with the drive tire off the ground. I am thinking that I ran into this on another truck 15 or so years ago but I did not keep any notes on what solved the problem. Suggestions?

Problem solved, after several calls to the factory and the help of two dealer techs. Several hours of head scratching led one of the techs to unhook the wire guidance manager and the issue went away. Apparently, even with the switch turned off, the guidance was still trying to control the steering whenever the machine would change direction, but only for a split second. Oh well, I will have to keep notes on this one, another first after 18 years on the job.
To update, in addition to changing the steer amplifier, I also swapped out the steer motor/gearbox/encoder assembly and the vehicle manager from another truck, no change.
