Discussion:
Starter relay

Couldn't get the forklift started. Checked for power at starter. Had constant power to it. Replaced solenoid and same thing and burnt up the new solenoid. trying to find a new starter relay. Hyster no longer has this part or another part number listed. Not even an aftermarket one. Does anyone know what will work as a replacement relay? any help is appreciated.
Thanks, Larry D (Tater)

Larry,

Solenoid hyster number is 326893. You can usually find starters and solenoids at most electrical shops. Also, some auto parts can supply you with some relays. If you have numbers and make on the part you will have better luck. I do not see a starter relay in the system. It does have a neutral safety switch mounted at the transmission valve body. You should have constant power going to the starter solenoid. once the key switch is turned to the start position, power is applied to the start solenoid connection at the yellow wire. The solenoid should pull in sending the bendix into the flywheel and turn the starter. Good Luck.

The hard to do we do right away. The impossible just takes a little longer.
Fishmech, the serial number is A187G08843J-8224. It's a model S40XL. It's a 4cyl Mazda engine running on LPG. Anything you might help with is greatly appreciated. Trying to find a starter solenoid also. Found a Standard Parts one that fits. But don't know if there's a difference between a regular car solenoid versus the forklift one.
Thanks in advance.

Larry,

Due to the many engines installed in this style lift, a serial number or engine make, and size will be required to provide information.
