TheG You made a very good point. Most people in the field, buyers , sellers all keep on top of what is going on in this industry. The quality issue is looked at by the people who know what they are doing. They never look at the pricing but at the cost to keep the equipment up and running.Higher quality always means lower cost of operation.

i am a salesman for Starke and Tailift out of Alberta Canada
Tailift and Starke have nothing to do with each other in the manufacturing of the machines
All Starke units are made by a company out of China called Goodsense anyone with financial backing can Brand Goodsence whatever they would like as Starke did.
Zhejiang Goodsense Forklift Co., Ltd

Make no mistake these are not the same machines by a long shot
Taiiifts are now since the acquisition by Toyota have 4 manufacturing plants
Taiifts Taiwan, China (Qingdao), and US (Houston).

Acquisition of Tailift Co., Ltd. (Taiwan) Lift Truck Business

Acquisition of Tailift Co., Ltd. (Taiwan) Lift Truck Business
- Expanding the product line-up and strengthening business in emerging markets -
Toyota Industries Corporation (hereafter Toyota Industries) has acquired the lift truck operations for
Tailift Co., Ltd. (hereafter Tailift), a company which focuses on the development, production, and
sales of lift trucks and machine tools in Taiwan and China. In August 2015, Tailift split off their lift truck business and Toyota Industries acquired a 55% share in the new company for just over 10
billion yen.

Hope this clarifies some of the misinformation i have seen on this site

Chris, I was asking the question to learn more about the brand. Not to stir the pot. I have no clue where most trucks are manufactured currently. I thought it was interesting that someone mentioned that some of the Starke line was built here locally.

I'm young and starting out in material handling. I think it was a fair question to ask to gain more knowledge about the industry I am building a career in.
Another point here is StarkeGMH seemed not to like some what i see as good points because they seem to critisise what he was saying. On here people will say your product is terrible and most of the management want getting rid off , but most people on here understand when some one is knocking a company for the sake of it and when some one has good points to make

People seem to say if a truck is made in Asia then it no good or you can't get parts and so on. Well Toyota who are the largest manufacture in the world have seen something in Tail Lift and done a deal to buy them so if it is good enough for Toyota then it should be good enough for the market.

What you will see tho is the larger forklift manufactures getting larger with just three or Four Controlling different parts of the Market.

BT- Raymond, Crown, Yale , linde - Still , Jungheinrich will control warehouse equipment ,

Toyota, KION,Yale, and two more can't decide what two will control diesel Counter balance forklifts up to 10,000 KG ,

Hyster , kalmar , taylor and Sany will control truck over 10,000kg taylor will depend on Briggs

and Kalmar and Sany will control Container handling

There will of cores be smaller companies but the ones i have said will control these markets

Looking at the truck they look like they are made by Tail lift in Taiwan , Tail Lift have recently been purchased by Toyota so you can presume they are a good truck. So it will all now depend on cost You could even argue that with the recent take over will tail Lift be soon up there with the like of the Korean manufactures like Clark Hyundai and Doosan.

The market is still looking at some major changes the Koreans are going to have to come together in some way if they are to Take on the likes Of KION, Toyota, Hyster Yale , and Mits cat Jungh , tie up

My bet will be Clark and Hyundai tie up

Flock of seagulls can you answer that question for me. Who makes their equipment in the US now. Come tells us all. My guess is crown equipment is probably building more stuff than any one. But even that been changing for sometime. And look don't give me bunch of garbage just because you bolt it up here doesn't mean it's made here.

Okay. I see. That's not a specs question but design and build question. Not really for me. I am a dealer. Sounds like you should contact Jim Chesla for those questions. That's what I would have to do. Look I am not a mouth piece for anyone but my company. I can only tell you my experience with the Starke and the product has been good. I would not be afraid to sell my customer one. But you do what you feel you need to do. Good luck to you. Feel free to call me if your really serious about this.

how many friction disc are in the clutch drum? does it have a cooler in the rad? who manufacturers it?

the software warranty makes sense.

hyster and yales look and are the same, but they don't hide that fact. the toyota and raymond thing, yeah they are both owned by toyota also a well known fact. mitsi and cat same truck. i get what your saying. but jim there said there is a difference from starke and tailift i just wanted to know what that difference was, from what i have read here it is the after sales support/factory support. nothing different in the product itself.

im looking for a 15000lb truck to fit into a container for loading steel coils with forks.... yes with forks... i hope you can understand why i wouldnt reccomend a chinese built forklift to a client such as this, not only are they lifting a large capacity they are also very hard on the equipment and the only ones that seem to hold up well were built in the 60's-80's...
