Scissor Arm Repair

I have left side scissor arm ready to pull off to replace bearings but the arm will not come out. The slotted nut, washer, bearing are pulled from inside I have been told the arm should just come off fairly easily but nothing I do seems to free the arm.

What do I need to do?

Fact of the week
The use of "hello" as a telephone greeting is attributed to Thomas Edison. He is said to have suggested it as a simpler alternative to other greetings, such as "Do I get you?" or "Are you there?".
