is it a flat head engine?
if yes then yes it is a continental engine, in a H50H i doubt it is a 6cyl tho, those weight class trucks only had 4cyl engines in them. The 6cyl engines didnt go into any truck less than a 7000lb series if i'm not mistaken.
They were usually Y112 or F162 series 4cyl engines in the 6000lb or less trucks.
And in the larger trucks they used the F163, F226, F227, F244 and F245 6cyl engines.
These were ALL inline bore engines, none of the 6cyl had v blocks.
if not a flat head engine then it is most likely a ford
The common ford engines they used to use were:
Ford 172/192 industrial engines and are also known as the Ford RSG428 and RSG431 series.
They may have also used a Ford 300 industrial engine which is also known as the Ford CSG649 series engine. I do not recall seeing many if any of these in hysters.
And of course the ford industrial engines do not have a flat head style engine, they have a normal valve cover.
Without a complete model and serial number of the truck in question it would be difficult to say which engine you have specifically.
