odd that you chose to post this in the H50XL thread
after looking through both sets of manuals for the H40-60XL series and the H2.00-3.00XL series manuals there is no GM engine listed for these machines, only mazda and isuzu.

The S series trucks do list a GM engine though.
In the troubleshooting section for the GM HEI system here are the probable causes for a no start condition:
- Open circuit between the battery and the distributor. Repair or replace cable from battery to distributor.
- Moisture or dirt in the distributor cap. Clean and dry distributor cap.
- New spark plugs are needed. Replace spark plugs.
- High voltage wires are damaged. Perform high voltage wire checks.
- Open circuit between the distributor connector and the ignition coil. Perform Ignition Coil Check and repair as required.
- Open circuit in the ignition coil. Replace ignition coil.
- Open circuit in the sensing coil. Replace Sensing Coil.
- The electronic module is damaged. Replace electronic module.
This should get you in the right direction to find the problem but having the lift's full serial number would be more helpful.

Due to forum rules it is prohibited to pass manuals out so asking for one is sort of pointless, if you insist on having a manual please inquire at your local hyster dealer and purchase one. Otherwise we are glad to assist you in finding the problem to help you repair your lift.

The black box flight recorder was invented by Australian scientist David Warren in the mid-1950s. While initially met with indifference in Australia, his invention gained international recognition, particularly in the UK, and is now a mandatory piece of safety equipment on all commercial aircraft.
