I have a Omega lift with a GM 3.L LPG engine and a hydrostaic transmission. This truck has a burnt up starter and also a drive problem. The operater told me on saturday they drove the truck inside and it had no forward or reverse and then it drove. This morning they tried to start the truck and it wouldn't start. When I got there I checked the battery, wires and grounds. All seems good but the starter was really working hard and smells like it was burning up and would not turn the motor over. I have orderd a new starter. Im wondering if there could be a problem with the hydrostaic transmission as well, perhaps a hydraulic lock which is putting a load on the engine starter on start up. Perhaps this why the starter is working so hard and burnt up. What are your thoughts , have you run in to this before?
