I agree about any thing can be faulty, and if "new" was THE answer, there would not be any need for "warranty" nor for experts that can tell what really is the problem.
I personally NEVER use a -new- card if a rebuilt is possible.
These things are not moving parts, heat and chemical spills are the things that damage the cards.
