There are a fair amount of end users that use this website to try to determine if say a particular $2500 used truck is worth it. I personally would not buy a 1960' or 1970' vintage forklift truck but for an end user that it a different story. Let's say a guy did buy a truck like this and got royally ripped off and it was unusable. At the least they could sell the forks for $250 and scrap out the truck for another $800 so their net loss is $950.

Look at another scenario that happens way more frequently, buying a seemingly beautiful, late model, low hour truck on the internet for let's say $10,000. Which is more risky?

I consider myself a pretty skilled buyer and I got smoked. I bought a truck from a wholesaler who unbeknownst to me got it from a guy that sell nationwide on the internet. The photos showed what seemed to be a beautifully painted, 1300 hour Cat that was actually a Mitsubishi painted and decaled as a Cat. #1, I never buy painted trucks wholesale and I should have figured something when a Mitsu was painted as a Cat.
Anyway the 1300 hour truck was probably a 10,000 plus truck. After 10 minutes of running it smoked big time. We disassembled the engine and man were the pistons loose. Plus the transmission cooling lines were coupled together and not even hooked up to the radiator. There were many other issues as well.
I guess I would have loss less money buying a 1970 junker.
