a serial number is almost always a good thing to include, so we can be sure we are talking about the same units.
when you say "hard starting" please go into that description a nit more, does the starter seem to turn the engine slow? does the engine turn at a normally fast rate with the starter but never sees fire in the cylinder?
does this unit have an external resistor to the coil?
