The problem will depend on the engine. PSI and GM engines were known for lifter problems. 2.4 GM was also known for electrical issues at the coils. PSI also had timing belt problems. Mazda engines were simple, but also reliable. I would swap coil from one cylinder to another and see if the miss moves. If not, suspect cylinder. Engine type and serial number would help. Thanks.
