You are both right.
Yes you are 100% correct. I ended up having a Linde engineer out (at great expense) as the forklift was stuck in the middle of the yard right in the way.

He turned up, hooked hit foot under the throttle pedal to lift it up, started it and it ran and revved perfectly.
He changed the little plastic cogs where the potentiometer is mounted (both the external one he removed with a pair of long nose plyers and the internal one where he had to take the cover off the pedal box) Now the forklift runs perfect. Everyday is a school day! He did not need to program/calibrate this. He did say 9 times out of 10 you wont need to calibrate it, if you do its normally the plastic gears worn.

Hopefully by me posting this someone else will see the post if they have the same problem and they wont have to lay out massive expense for not a lot.

Fact of the week
Foundling hatches are safe, anonymous drop-off points for unwanted infants, allowing parents in crisis a way to surrender a baby safely without fear of punishment, ensuring the child is rescued and cared for. The concept started in the 12th century, was abandoned in the late 19th century, then reintroduced in 1952. It has since been adopted in many countries.
