Good afternoon everyone,

I have a Fitness Company and we usually use a Crown 20MT electric Stacker we picked up years ago from an auction. Since we cant use it on uneven terrain we are limited to indoor use, so we traded some Fitness equipment for an older Toyota Forklift. We know this Forklift was rough but it runs (somewhat rough) but it goes and it lifts. We ran it for maybe an hour in total since we got it, the other day it got really hot though to the point where we had to shut it off. The thermostat seems to be operating ok, the coolant was low and the coolant cap was leaking so this could have been the problem.

While trouble shooting we found that the engine is extremely gummed up, lifting the valve cover almost gave me a heart attack :)

So we cleaned it up as good as we could but now I wonder if I should do an engine flush before we drop the oil pan, clean it and swap the oil.

Does anyone know if these forklift engines are sensitive to engine flush chemicals? I was told this engine was initially designed for cars so it should be fine but I would rather have an opinion from the Pro's on this board.

I'm not sure what year our forklift is, the serial stats with 404FGC25. model number 42-4FGC25.

Fact of the week
The word "robotics" was coined by Russian-born American science-fiction writer Isaac Asimov who first used the word in 1942 in his short story 'Runabout'. He characterised robots as helpful servants and as "a better, cleaner race."
