Discussion:
Reach carriage roller wear on support arms.

Area where reach carriage rollers travel, is showing signs of flaking and metal rolling up where the rollers run. ie- The rollers are MUCH harder than the support arm material.
The old models had a replaceable wear strip along this area, but these new machines don't have it.
Is this "normal"?
I know our old machines (RRE5CC)had a problem here but you could just replace the wear strips.
Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the feedback Forkingabout.
I totally agree with what you are saying ! There are very few areas left on these machines that I have not been intimate with. From the final drive to the tip of the fork. Especially the old RRE5CC models. We should be putting these things out to pasture a lot sooner, very expensive carrying them the last 8000 hours or so. Anything can be rebuilt... but at what cost??

Anyway, thanks again for the feedback and all your help !!
It is much appreciated.

Merry Christmas and all the Best in the New Year

25k hours on a RRE is going in to the world of the unknown.

I've asked around my colleagues & once an RRE gets to about 17k hours you expect to start seeing big repairs / bills to overhaul things like masts etc.

I would advise try & trade them in before the big bills / repairs are required.

Everything has a service life & things wear out requiring replacement or overhaul.

FWIW the newer RRE are more bulletproof then the original ones.

RRE has just had another design overhaul, new Clearview mast designs & other general all over tweaks, i think this is due for January 2017 production - it was on the Toyota stand at IMHX a couple of months back.

Forkingabout, if I may pick your brain...what kind of lifespan are you typically seeing on these RRE200CC models. They are incredibly bulletproof - I must say!
We have...shall I say "inexperienced" operators as cold conditions and shift work don't bring out the best operators, sadly.

These are the 1st RRE200CC units we have. Our old fleet of RRE5CC units we were getting 25000 hrs. at around 5 years and they were pretty tired at that point in time. "Bean counters" say we gotta cost them over 5 years and NO WAY you're getting new ones before that! In the last year of the 5 we are putting a lot of money into them, doesn't make sense to me...but, anyway.

Once again thanks for the help!!

11712.4 hours Truck is 2 years 9 months old. Side play & rear rollers are adjusted according to manual and carriage runs "smooth"... just the ruts forming in the support arms. We are only 1/2 way to our replacement target of 24000 hours, and not sure we're gonna make it.
