Hope someone here can help me. This is a rebranded Schaeff truck that was also marketed by Hyster. When I turn on the truck, in first position it scrolls through all the parameter options constantly and will not allow access to any on the parameter screens or the password screen. When I move key to #2, it posts then shows passed followed by two warnings.(Should note that switch is sloppy and does not spring back to #1 position when it is released) Warning says "TMI interval is exceeded" and "warning 3 depress brake pedal to resume lift" (wording might not be exact) I assume that the TMI message is information only, but I can't reset it cause I can't access the reset function. The second one is more troubling and has me confused. The brake switch is working and the traction and steering work when I step on the pedal, just no hydraulic pump. Any thoughts as to what to check nest? I have checked the key switch, it seems to be working except for the spring return. Is there any other switch that the controller looks at besides the brake switch that could cause this? I can't find anything about the #3 warning message in the manual.
I also have a problem with the electric steering system. It is jerky and I think it is the encoder but I don't have any info on how to test it. Any help is appreciated.

dunno why i didn't think of this obvious thing...but.....
constantly scrolling?
checked the control handle lately?
button stuck?
;o)
since you have access to another truck try swapping out the control handle.
Hi
I have problems with the 6bncue15 forklift. I have the error code E78D. I think the data memory in the eproms in that board is lost. I want to replace (buy) a new board. Do you have an idea where to get the toyota part number 0593-11878-71 (control board)?
Please. I have an error code E78D in a 6bncue15 forklift. I have the Schaeff manual and I can't find this error code. I think it's a problem with the bios and I need reflashing it. Can anyone help me with the software for reprogramming the mainboard?
Found the lift problem and the problem with the display. One of the tilt buttons was stuck on the touch pad. Cleaned everything up with some electronics spray and it worked. Lift works and I can now scroll through the display screens normally.
Does anyone know of a default password that will let me access the parameters to reset the PMI code? I have no history on this unit.
Well it doesn't seem to be the key switch or the control panel. I swapped the key switches and then the two complete panels from the Hyster to the Yale. Yale panel works just fine in the Hyster and the Hyster panel shows the same faults in the Yale. It's good the panels okay, but I'm back to square one. Any more ideas? Found out the software is version 3.31 when panel was in the Hyster. Couldn't read it in the Yale.
Thanks for the quick reply. I was suspecting the display board but hoping I was wrong. I will try a key switch and see if it helps. We happen to have a Hyster version in the shop right now as well so I may borrow it to test. Not sure where I would find a computer to run software that old or the software, but one step at a time. If it ends up being the display, it will be getting parted out or scraped.
oh yes i remember these trucks well...
they can be a headache at times for sure
from the sounds of your description of what the truck is doing it sounds like the truck software is corrupted.
I've seen a myriad of issues dealing with this problem and it was mostly due to the operator plugging the charger into the truck instead of the battery. I went round and round with Yale and Schaeff both on this problem with a customer of mine until they finally came out with what they called a "crowbar fix" which consisted of installing some components inline with the battery circuit to help aid in discharging the system and prevent any leaking voltage that might trigger a charger to turn on if by chance it was inadvertantly plugged into the truck instead of the battery. In every case i had where the display got corrupted or damaged like this it was always replacing the logic unit in the display to fix it. (basically replacing the display unit) Back then it ran about $1200.00 for a display.
Since you are getting it to power up you might can run the software/firmware upgrade and see if that will repair any problems causing this.
This update does not require any special canbox tool, just a null modem cable and a laptop capable of running dos (older version of windows (XP or earlier) with a db9 serial port. The software i have comes on a floppy disk. I dont think a usb serial adapter will work but i'm not sure, i've never had to try that method as i still have an ancient laptop that can run this ;o)
As far as that key problem it might not be a bad idea to get a new keyswitch. Try this first before attempting to upgrade the software but i'd see if you can see what version software the truck has when you turn on the key, it should pop up at first before it does anything else. Then see if there is a newer version than whats in it and get that and try to update it after replacing the keyswitch.
good luck
