Discussion:
No forward

Its actually a Yale...but really its a Hyster

I bought this truck knowing it had no forward thinking it might be somthing stupid like solenoids or switches, but i checked both, even switching them and still no forward. Before I start ripping it apart i wanted to get somones elses input. I have checked pressures and I get a good 90psi in both directions, and still no forward. I removed the forward and reverse spool and no sticking nothing. I have one wheel jacked and i find it weird that when i put it into forward theres no effort to go into forward or anything, it actually keeps spinning in reverse. To me even if the clutch packs were completely shot it should atleast go in forward or not stop spinning with the wheel jacked. Even in neutral it spins reverse, no power to move the truck, until it is put into reverse then it has the power to move.

Thanks Kevin... I was thinking it was that main C-clip aswell but i was hoping it was something else, something stupid i might have missed in hopes to avoid ripping out and overhauling the transmission.

also, if the transmission will not move at all in forward and reverse continues to move then it sounds like the transmission clutch discs and separator plates are welded together because of extreme heat. clutch pack is bad. rebuild clutch pack

these transmissions are prone to the main retainer circlip breaking out from the forward clutch pack. if all your pressures are ok you need to strip out the box
