Nissan Code E-27 FYI Info

Just thought would post some info on the Code E-27 for the Nissan K21/25 Engines.....had a truck Yesterday with this code and thought I would post my experience with it. Truck has almost 10,000 Hrs on the original spark plugs and has had an intermittent E-27 for some time now...I DID originally change out the Cam and crank sensors a while back and it cleared it up for a while but then it kept coming back.....I pulled and replaced the spark plugs yesterday....the plugs had no electrode left and had a gap of.080+
And yes I used Nissan original spark plugs part # 22401-FU42A for anyone interested....I ALSO found one coil pack that was dead again part # 22448-AR215....these engines will run and perform decent with 3 cylinders AND worn out plugs so a E-27 DOSENT always mean that the crank sensor is bad....first thing is look at the plugs AND coils......the way I check the coils is I start the truck and then unplug one coil at a time and look for a NOTICABLE RPM drop if no drop in rpm the that coil gets replaced......you WILL get a code E-34 doing this but I just clear all my codes after my repair is made....hope this helps anyone searching here in the forum at a later time on Nissans code E-27......

Amen! Just a little add on to what you posted kev.......... always change your plugs according to the manual. I have found out over time as i have dealt with the 21 and 25 engines that these coil packs do not like wide gaps as they seem to overheat and breakdown with wide spark gap. Rarely have i ever changed a cam or crank sensor. I do not consider these engines as " finicky" per se but more like maintain me and i will give trouble free service. I have a fleet of these things to keep up and hardly ever do i get the E-27 code.
