Discussion:
LP regulator

Komatsu FG20St-14 with nissan LP engine. Won't start, replaced injector. Would rebuilding the regulator be the next step?

Really need Engine Model and Serial Info.

i ve had a similar problem on a mitsubishi with k25, no code, at the begining it sems to start but it don t, wire of main injector was broken and it even don t show the error because the ecm wasn t ok. i repaired the wires to the main injector and replace the ecm, and now it runs. This will assume the regulator is ok

Thanks, I rebuilt the regulator because the valve seat was hard. A technician from from a company that used to service our equiptment changed out the injector which did not corret the problem.

what codes are displayed on the dash?
ive seen k2x's start for a second and stall as the computer detects a fault and shuts down the fuel supply

theres a few things that can do this so the codes are very important to make a proper diagnosis
what led you to change the injector?
diagnosis by swapping parts is way to expensive in these newer machines (and is a bad habit that doenst teach you anything)

New York, New York its a heluva town..you know that The Bronx is up..and I'm Brooklyn down
I am assuming you have a nissan k-21 or k-25 engine with a Nikki Converter. If you already changed the injector, I would suggest taking a pressure reading of the converter. It should be about 4.5 psi, if it is a steady low reading and you hear gas leaking you may have an open relief valve in the injector housing behind the main injector. The assistant injector can also act as a relief valve if pressure is sufficient to overcome spring pressure. If you disconnect the balance line from the converter and you have an lp leak your converter is leaking internally. I am not sure you can get the parts to service the converter as Cat has it as a non-serviceable item. LP problems don't always set a code so the best bet is the pressure reading at the converter.

If you hear gas all the time, replace the regulator.Or pinch hose to injector to slow it down.If you can change the flow rate to keep it running,It the regulator.Do you have any codes on this lift?If it runs and quits fog it with starting fluid to see if its lean.Check current to fuel lock also.

yes there is spark. Gas is heard escaping into the throttle body. That is why I replaced the injector. Engine will start just as the remaining gas is purged. (only for a short moment).
