Discussion:
LH Drive Motor not shutting off / while turning

Hey Guys,

Working on a Raymond RTW40 / 3 wheel sitdown. Zapi control system. Unit while turning left, LH drive motor continues to drive and not cut out or change direction for smooth turning. RH side works great. Trouble shot contactors, steer encoder, cable set up, ect. Noticed while turning left the contactor for the LH side does not disconnect like the RH side. Thinking the steer encoder sends a signal to the controller, controller sends signal to the contactor, I made an adjustment to the encoder with the same results. I'm leaning towards a controller replacement, but wanted to check with anyone out there that might have some input on this system. Thanks for any help.

Never worked on your model. But I have worked on pacers, and they used a proxy down by the steer tire. That sends the info to the drive motor controllers. There sould be a on board test for the encoder. Test that first. Just a thought, might not help.

The word "robotics" was coined by Russian-born American science-fiction writer Isaac Asimov who first used the word in 1942 in his short story 'Runabout'. He characterised robots as helpful servants and as "a better, cleaner race."
