Discussion:
Kalmar AC main cylinder lowers very slowly

I have a guy who wants to trade me a Kalmar forklift that has a problem with the mast going down slowly. It is a regular propane type sit down fork truck, and I am trying to get more info on year and model, but does anyone have any idea what the problem may be? Thanks! Dave

Not that familiar with Kalmar but most cylinders have a safety flow valve in the bottom of the cylinder and if debris gets in there it will cause that. Remove the hose and the fitting on the bottom of the cylinder to access it.

this is when you are lowering the forks with the valve. It is not leaking down on its own.

either the cylinder needs packing ( leaking down due to internal leakage ) or the spool is not seating on the control valve.
