Discussion:
Hydraulic Pump

Maybe someone can help with some information on this problem: No hydraulic operation at all. It sounds like out of fluid/howling/grinding??? But the level is fine. Looking down at the pump, I can see the pump drive shaft at the end of the crankshaft. there is what appears to be a coupler or drive plate attached to the crank pulley. There are some rubber bushings and bolts holding it together. From what I can see, the pump shaft is barely turning while the engine is running. My question is ; should the pump be turning at 1:1 ratio with the crankshaft? There is some rusty orange dust on the coupler. Do these things wear out? What is the name for that part? I suspect that is the problem area.

Any insight would be appreciated.

The grooves of pump drive shaft and/or the coupling are worn out.
Sometimes happened this if the operator used the machine "just" idle and low RPM.
maybe.

I'm a beginner.
the coupling part is often called a 'lovejoy'. the rust may be from a broken key (either a woodruff key or a square key), on the shaft, but that is just a W.A.G.
