Mac,
We usually use oak blocks 8X8 or 12X12. Also they make a stacking blocks made specific for lift support. When you have everything loose and ready to remove the engine, support transmission with a block. This will make removal and installation of the engine easier. Make sure to unbolt torque convertor and pry it back towards the trans. This way you do not dump fluid all over the floor. Good Luck
The trans does not require any work, just the engine.
Obviously normal car stands are not strong enough. Can you suggest suitable stands, does hyster have their own and is there a proper lift point for the jacks?
Thanks for your help
Mac,
Most of the time this is decided if the transmission needs work or just the engine. Some techs believe it is easier to split apart after removal and others will separate in lift. Should you pull just the engine, best to put lift on stands to give more room underneath. Good Luck
