If this is a ERC120HH it is a AC DRIVE. there are a number of things cause the 53 code has to do with communication to the Master Controller. Could be wiring thru seat switch all the way to master controller. even bad conection of the plug on the master comtroller. have to follow all step or call Yale dealer to plug in Laptop

Check the #4 REC and see if it is bad.
Also check the directional contactors, the tips may burned affecting the circuit closing properly.
There also might be problems in the power circuit like the current sensor or motor circuit.

Thanks for the response. Yes it is doing it as soon as we turn on the key. Any suggestions as to how to fix the problem? Should we also see what happens when we put the truck under a load? I look forward to hearing your response.

has to do with the 1REC turn off , something is causing it to not turn off correctly.

does it do this as soon as the key is turned on? or does it do this while driving and plugging the direction? Do you see any other codes when accelerating when loaded?
