Discussion:
EME AC 12 26 pallet jack - batteries discharge unevenly

Hey everybody,
I have an EME AC 12 26 fork truck (24 volt) that dies after a short period of use. When I take it apart, I find that one battery has a good charge (13-13.5 volts) while the other battery is run down to 10.5-11 volts. I have no manuals or schematics of any sort (and get no response from the company), so have no idea how this thing is wired. I assume the batteries are in series to get 24 volts, so not sure how one battery would discharge much more quickly than the other. Has anyone ever come across this? Perhaps one battery is just a dud for whatever reason?
Would appreciate any help you can offer.
John

You're probably as an element of the open battery should be replaced.

if the voltage on one of the batteries is dropping down that much then the low battery is probably going bad or is bad.
run a load test on both after charging, if you still get that big of a voltage drop then replace the battery that is falling off, it most likely has a bad cell causing the voltage drop.
either battery should not drop more than 1.0v during a 15 to 20 sec load test running the hydraulic pump.

Hi John,

he EME models they are to small for there job.
The batteries are gell batteries
They need to be discharged and charged probertly.
The main problems are the batteries.
My advice is to get strage 24V on the EME and check if the EME works correctly
If okay change the batteries BOTH!!
