Discussion:
Cracked Rims

Hey there. I'm in Canada at a Distribution center with 14 Doosan-Daewoo B18T-5 3000 lb counterbalanced lift trucks. Most trucks are showing small cracks at wheel -rim centers. The cracks are at each stud hole, going towards center.
I say there is defect in the metal, or rim hole clearance is too tight for wheel hub. 14 rims have cracks. Doosan says they were pressed improperly. But, when new rims arrived, 2 were TOO TIGHT to install. The center or the rims were smaller than the hub. Torquing the rims would certainly cause damage. Anyone out there ever see cracks like this? I have pics...thanks

had same with a few rims i had (5) talked to my local wheel importer he said there is some
inferior asian wheels. I ordered wheels from doosan/daewoo from old part numbers to suit older trucks with same patten no problems after that.JUST A SUGGESTION

Just to update, 10 new rims came from overseas. All of them except for one did not fit the hub. They are 9 thou too small. Just be careful of rim replacement on these Daewoo counterbalance trucks. Swapping wheels from one truck to another may cause damage as all hubs and rims may not be machined to same specs. The rim should slide freely onto hub and bottom out.
