any code related to the pedals (like the accel pedal being out of adjustment) will not be able to be cleared with the "pedal dance", which, to me, makes sense.
Two E-codes were in the engine's ecm, pedal sensor was slightly out.
Cat tech had to be call to remove the codes and adjust sensor. Need their soft wear to do this task.
I'll check to see if a code E-31 comes up at start up. There are no flashing codes while running. The original problem was it would cut back to an idle, would need to restart for full acceleration. I changed out the pedal sensor that's when it quit cutting of to an idle, now it drops to half speed, still need to restart before you can get full acceleration. I pulled on the wires at the plugs to see if one might be broken.
since it seems to be intermittant on the acceration still have you noticed any other fault codes come up?
just by disconnecting the battery and clearing them that way may not get rid of them in the ecm memory. Some hard stored codes may not be showing on dash display but may still be in the history and could keep the truck from returning to normal operation. They usually still display on the dash though.
Being that your still having the acceleration issue you should get the pc diagnostic program and monitor the throttle body sensor and make sure its getting to 100%, there have been issues with these also causing that very problem you are describing now.
Have you seen any intermittent E-31 codes?
You already addressed the E-23 code but there still could be problems in the TB.
I have found out you can remove the fault codes by removing the POS. cable end and touching it to ground for 6 seconds.
More problems, LP Regulator went bad, replaced LP Regulator and pedal sensor. Unit now starts good, idles good, revs up to max RPMs sometimes and with low power and sometimes it will only reach half way to max. Turn off key sw. and restarts with full RPM again. Thinking it might be the ECM. Cleaned out the final filter screen. no change.

just a point to consider though
if you have not solved the issue the codes will not clear, they will remain persistent until you resolve the problem.
In alot of cases these codes get set because of a communication error between the throttle position sensors and also the MAF sensor. What has been consistent on these models is the wiring breaks right where they go into the connector(s) at the sensor. You have to locate the break and repair the wire first.
Most of the time you can just give the wire a nice tug and it will pull apart, then you can trim it back and solder it back together if it hasn't broken too close to the connector. If by some chance it breaks right at the connector there is a repair kit available from mfca/cat/Mitsubishi to repair the connector complete. It's basically a pre-made pigtail assy you use to replace the existing one.

E21 is mass air flow sensor signal circuit malfunction
E23 is Throttle Position Sensor signal circuit Malfunction
do a search in the forum for the "pedal dance" to clear codes,or if there is an OBD II connector under the cup holder can use an automotive code reader to clear them...another option is to unhook the battery...the time frame is much debated but try it for a half hour and see.....if the codes are still active and he problems haven't been resolved then they will just come back..
