Discussion:
Code 8L

2008 model 5400 stock picker, throws code 8L when turning the steering to the far left, all is well when turning right. Ran test A35, passed, and the book leaves me high and dry from there. I dont see any wear on the wires, none are bunding or pulling, but the brake coil seems unusually warm. I have another truck, one serial number digit different, can I swap the VM's just to test it rather than buying one?

Thanks Joe. After swapping out botht the VM and the fuse relay card with parts from another OPC, I finally found it. One of the brake coil wires was broken but still intact, right behind the white connector towards the top. It seems that the factory got a little too happy with the zip ties and had everything under a little too much tension.

Check the pins at the connector as it could be a bad crimp. On the fuse relay board look to the left side. You will see what looks to be little resistors attached to the board. Check the one marked CR1. The new revised board eliminated that and put in a jumper. You might try swapping that. When CR1 fails it will give you all kinds of problems but I still lean towards the wiring.

Ain't nothing I can't fix but a broken heart and the break of day!

Fact of the week
According to studies published in the English Journal of Medicine, the impact of daylight savings is revealed by a 24% increase in heart attacks on the Monday following the spring shift forward. When clocks move back in autumn, heart attacks drop by about 21%, suggesting that loss of sleep is an important driver.
