Carriage continues to drive down after you release the switch for the lift

When coming down from the second stage and you release the electrical switch the carriage continues to drift down. it doesn't do it on the first stage. if you press up on the switch it will stop and stay. it doesn't happen all the time but is dangerous. i found some one put transmission fluid in the hyd tank. so i drained the tank and put normal hyd fluid back in it. it seen to help initially but problem came back. has any one had this issue that could help me.
