Discussion:
C500y200l no reverse

Does anyone have experience with this lift and it transmission. Has a clark tranny with model number 13hr28310-11. Travels in forward but when shift to reverse it just freezes up. Are these c500y200l machines known for having tranny problems? Expensive to work on orreplace? ( guessing so). Any info or experience with would be very much appreciated. It is a 1974 yr model. Gas 318 engine. 20k capacity

Pressure test are not hard to do if you have a manual. Expect to pay 1-2 hours labor for a service technician to do the test on site.

Tom, thanks for takin time to give me some insight. The weird brake issue entered my mind a couple days ago. I have a small machine that has done that to some degree. I willhave to look up the manual and print it off. Are the pressure tests hard to do. What could i expect to be charged to have that done by someone? I have pretty goid mechanical ability, but no transmission experience or gauges.

Confirm you have no weird brake issues (locking in reverse or forward). I have encountered control valve internal leakage and broken clutch pack discs in that transmission which can cause what you describe. You may have to perform pressure tests to diagnose this problem. The service and parts manual is available online free.
