Brake Piston O-Rings and Backups

I have a Clark lift truck C500Y90 #Y685-113-4845. I'm doing a brake job on it and can not for the life of me get those miserable o-rings and backup rings in the piston bore grooves. Is there a special tool required? I'm at the end of my rope fellas, please help. I need to get this lift back on the ground.

Glen, YOU-DA-MAN !!! Thanks a million for the tip. You were right on the money, I have the narrow grooves and was told by an independant lift truck parts house that I needed o-rings and back-ups.I tried for days to get both in that narrow groove. The lift is back on the ground, working perfectly and we use it every day. Good things come to those who help others, I wish the best for you and your family. Peace

There are two differnt calipers for those forklifts that have this type of brake system.
The difference is the width of the groove for the o-ring & back-up ring.
Groove width of.283" uses the back-up ring.
Groove width of.224" does not use the back-up ring.
