Discussion:
aisan fuel system problem

I have 2.2 liter mazda with an Aisan LP system. Engine will only idle when air flow to carb intake is restricted. Runs okay on acceleration, but surges and stalls on idle. Already removed and replaced dirty filters in the LP regulator. Seems like fuel pressure may be to low. Does LP reg. need to be replaced or is problem in Carburetor?

Thanks for the info. But it turns out the problem was in the secondary fuel supply, there is an electric injector in the carb that supplies fuel when in need. Both the injector and the inline filter were bad. Upon replacement unit runs fine.

Sounds like it is getting too much air like a leaking base gasket on the carb. i would restrict the air to get it to idle and use brake clean or something along that line and spray around the gaskets. if the engine dies out or revs up you've got a bad gasket.
