SED 2006

United Kingdom, Corby, Northamptonshire - 16th to 18th May 2006
The UK's largest construction event, SED (Site Equipment Demonstration) is coming to Rockingham Performance Park. Over five million pounds has been invested in the 120-acre purpose built outdoor showground, which is located in front of the Speedway stadium. SED will take place annually on this site for the next fifteen years and is the first major outdoor event to be staged at this venue.
SED will be celebrating its 40th anniversary at Rockingham and is expecting more than 450 exhibitors who, over three days, will be showcasing some of the most advanced construction plant, tools, equipment, vehicles and accessories in the world.

The event is also the number one venue for launching brand new products - many of which have never been seen in before in the UK or indeed the world. Known in the industry as the National Event for Construction, the show will bring in the region of 25,000 visitors to the Rockingham Performance Park venue.

The show, which runs from May 16-18th is open, free of entry charge, to adults and children over 12 and features not only static displays of construction equipment, but also live demonstrations of diggers digging, crushers crushing mulchers munching, loaders loading, cranes operating, commercial vehicles tearing up the 4x4 track, and a whole variety of other equipment, which makes up the backbone of the UK's and Europe's construction industry.

Amongst the first companies to take their place on the grid in the SED Site Equipment Zone were Terex Compact, JCB (who has doubled its stand size), New Holland and Volvo Construction. Case will also be exhibiting this year alongside, Doosan Daewoo, Caterpillar, Bobcat, Manitou, Volvo Construction and Kubota.

Fact of the week
Foundling hatches are safe, anonymous drop-off points for unwanted infants, allowing parents in crisis a way to surrender a baby safely without fear of punishment, ensuring the child is rescued and cared for. The concept started in the 12th century, was abandoned in the late 19th century, then reintroduced in 1952. It has since been adopted in many countries.
