Yilport is deploying APS solutions across its cargo facilities in Turkey.

Yilport Holding has selected APS Technology Group's gate automation and operating solutions for four multipurpose ports it operates in Turkey.

The APS solution allows Yilport to manage exceptions across all gates and cranes at multiple terminals from one central and remote location in real time. The solution also provides full support for Yilport's enterprise reporting.

Yilport Holding CEO Sean Pierce says the company is focused on the continued expansion of the Yilport portfolio of terminals and aims to become a top 10 global port operator. "We will be able to realise this vision by investing heavily in people, facilities, equipment and by employing state-of-the-art technologies.

APS vice president of sales and marketing Brian Shultz says Yilport's use of remote exception management across multiple terminals and multiple nodes is a "game changer" for the industry. "Yilport control clerks will be able to manage exceptions across all of their gates and cranes from one central and remote location."

Yilport Holding was established in 2012 in Turkey to manage the growing port assets of the YILDIRIM Group of companies. The Yilport portfolio includes four ports in Turkey and a 50% share of Malta Freeport. Yilport was the first container terminal to implement gate automation in Turkey when the company installed the APS gate optical character recognition (OCR) solution at its Gebze facility in 2010.

APS Technology Group is a provider of OCR and automation technology solutions for marine and intermodal terminals. The solutions improve the productivity, efficiency and cost effectiveness of container handling by increasing the visibility, velocity and volume of cargo moving through a terminal's gate, rail, vessel and yard operations.

ABB acquired APS in February 2013 in order to strengthen its long-term growth strategy in the crane and harbour markets.
