Xtreme Manufacturing Inc is adding a compact-boom telehandler for use in job sites with weight or turning limitations.

Xtreme designs, tests and manufactures materials handling equipment and, within the past year, developed the smaller 5,900 lb. (2,655 kg) capacity model XR5919 telehandler.

Las Vegas-based Xtreme saw a need for the telehandler's capability in parking structures with weight limits and mining environments with tight working areas, says Daniel Brown, marketing and publications manager. "It is much more nimble" than other models in the Xtreme product line.

Brown anticipates customer deliveries may begin in September or early in the fourth quarter.

The XR5919 with air-filled tyres weighs 10,200 lb. (4,590 kg) and has a lifting capacity of 5,900 lb. (2,655 kg).

By comparison, Xtreme's next smallest roller-boom telehandler, the XR621 with foam-filled tyres, weighs 13,200 lb. (5,940 kg) and has a lifting capacity of 6,000 lb. (2,700 kg).

Xtreme displayed a prototype at the Association of Equipment Manufacturers' ConExpo-ConAgg trade show in Las Vegas from 4-8 March and is conducting tests prior to making the telehandler available.

Also in its roller-boom product lines, Xtreme offers five high-pivot models with lift capacities from 8,000-12,000 lb. (3,600-5,400 kg), four high-capacity units with capacities from 15,000-20,000 lb. (6,750-9,000 kg), two ultrahigh-capacity models with capacities of 24,000 lb. (10,800 kg) and 30,000 lb. (13,500 kg) and an Xtreme-capacity unit with capacity of 40,000 lb. (18,000 kg).
