Manitou Southern Africa has showcased what it claims is the world's largest telehandler at the biennial Johannesburg Electra Mining trade fair for mining sector professionals.
The MHT-X 14350 telehandler, as well as three flame-proof mining machines - a scaler, roof bolter and tow tractor -were the new products on display at the mining trade show in Johannesburg last week.
"With a nominal lift capacity of 35 T on its 14 m (46 ft.) duplex turret, the Manitou MHT-X 14350 will deliver an unprecedented level of mobile handling capacity to surface mining, heavy and general logistics industries," says product manager Jean-Philippe Herel.
The telehandler was "designed with a renewed emphasis on size for increased productivity" for modern heavy industrial applications. The model features advanced usability improvements with a 7.2 l, 240 kW Mercedes- Benz engine, with enhanced handling ability of large conveyor belt reels, tyre assemblies, wheel motors, granite blocks and others.
Manitou vice president for sales François Piffard says the expertise which the new business team and Manitou Southern Africa's know-how have built up over the past 20 years means the company is able to offer innovative solutions to mining professionals.
"The versatility of the solutions proposed by the group contributes directly to a reduction in 'service costs' throughout the life of a mining site, be it in terms of machinery maintenance, construction of infrastructure or day-to-day operational tasks, while at the same time improving safety and profitability," Piffard says.
The new additions to Manitou's mining equipment range were showcased alongside its Gehl track loader, rough-terrain forklift, conventional forklift, articulated platform and a range of telehandler attachments.
