The United Kingdom Warehousing Association (UKWA) is inviting third-party logistics (3PL) companies to enter its 2010 awards to be presented at a luncheon at the Dorchester Hotel in London on 7 July.
"I would urge any company in the logistics sector that has developed a product or service that benefits our industry to consider entering the Technology and Innovation Award," says Roger Williams, UKWA's CEO.
There are nine awards categories, with the Technology and Innovation Award open to non-UKWA members. Last year, Jungheinrich UK Ltd received this award for its automated pallet ID and scanning solution.
Williams says the awards are "one of the most enjoyable events in the 3PL industry's calendar" and attract entries from some of the most influential companies in the logistics and materials handling industry.
He adds that the event is a good opportunity to network with the industry's most influential figures. "Networking is one of the most important business tools available, and in the current recession, being pro-active in networking your business has become more vital than ever."
Over 400 people from the logistics and supply chain management industry attended the event last year.
The closing date for submitting applications is 30 April. Ticket prices and an awards entry form can be downloaded from
www.ukwa.org.uk.
Visitors can learn more about the workings of the UKWA and the benefits of joining the association at its pavilion at the Food & Drink Logistics show from 21-24 March at the NEC, Birmingham. The association will also showcase its members' and associate members' products and services.
The UKWA has over 600 member companies that control nearly 100 million square feet of warehousing space from about 1,300 locations in the UK.
