Toyota Industries Corp. is claiming a 44.4% marketshare in its home market for last year, up 1.7% from the previous year.

According to Jiji Press, the performance exceeded the previous record of 43.4% in 2005, with the company ranking first in the domestic market every year since 1966.

Toyota Industries' forklift sales in Japan increased 15% in 2012 to 31,366 units, thanks to stronger demand from the manufacturing, transport and warehousing industries, the report states.

Toyota's global forklift sales rose 5% to 179,781 units, with the company attributing its "positive sales numbers" to the launch of new products in both existing and new markets.
