Drivetrain Power and Propulsion is pleased to bring to the market new XTL^® technology from AxleTech International, a technology specifically targeted at the Container Handling industry. In contrast to traditional planetary hub reduction wheel ends, the XTL^® patented dual tyre wheel end allows for independent rotation of the drive wheels during a turn thereby minimising tyre scrub and one of the most significant container handling operating expenses, tyre wear.

XTL® wheel ends provide up to 3 times longer tyre life

Extensive lab and field testing of the XTL® wheel ends in empty container handler (ECH) applications have validated up to 3 times longer drive tyre life complimented with up to 1.5 times improvement on steer tyre life. With the XTL® wheel ends, the need for tyre rotations is eliminated while other operational benefits include reduced yard surface damage and tighter forklift turning radiuses and maneuverability. Feedback from current XTL® users has shown that fuel costs have also decreased. Drivetrain offers the XTL® for new ECH production applications with retrofit kits also available for standard AxleTech PRC1756 field applications.
