The Taylor Group of Companies has launched Taylor Defense Products to provide materials handling and logistics products to the US military and other government agencies.

Taylor claims to be one of the largest heavy lift manufacturers in the USA.

"For over 90 years, Taylor has been committed to helping its customers find solutions for their materials handling needs," says group CEO Lex Taylor. "We are excited to announce our decision to supply engineering, service and support to our US military by the addition of this company."

The new initiative will be led by Phil Sprio, who has a strong background in the government and defence markets.

A graduate of Wake Forest University and Albany Law School, Sprio served as senior VP for Kalmar RT Center, a division of Cargotec. Prior to joining Taylor, he served as president and CEO of three North Carolina-based companies serving government markets: Ultra Armoring and Defense, Metalworks Manufacturing Co. and Manilift Manufacturing Co.

"Phil has the knowledge, experience and expertise to manage this company," says Taylor.
