Liftking and the van Santen Group sign a 10-year contract to supply the Netherlands military |
Canadian rough-terrain forklift manufacturer Liftking has signed a 10-year contract with the van Santen Group to supply the Netherlands military.
On April 19, Mark Aldrovandi of Liftking and Marcel van Santen of van Santen Group were in the Netherlands for the signing of the consortium's new contract to supply rough-terrain container handlers to the Netherlands Ministry of Defence.
"Their decision to go with a Liftking product was in part due to the versatility of Liftking's robust rough-terrain forklift," says Aldrovandi.
The main duties of the LK30P-NL will be to handle 20 ft ISO containers using forks or a top handler, at multiple locations worldwide. With a capacity of 22,000 lb. at 59 in. (10,000 kg at 1.5 m) load centre, it will be the backbone of the Netherlands' Military's rough-terrain materials handling solution for its transportation fleet of 2,000 trucks it recently purchased with a container system.
"The LK30P-NL is transportable by air, ship and trucks, and has an ultra-modern Stage V engine that will provide the best solution towards minimising harmful emissions for people and the environment," says Aldrovandi
The 10-year contract, plus 5+5 optional years, is a multi-million Euro contract for 68 + 40 optional units, for delivery and maintenance. Deliveries will be completed by the end of 2021.
For the servicing of these units, Liftking has partnered with van Santen Group from Haarlem, known for its transportation, crane and rental/lease of heavy industrial machinery divisions.
"I'm confident and excited to have this opportunity to provide an excellent service for our Dutch Military both (at) home and abroad," says van Santen.
