The CEO of the United Kingdom Warehousing Association (UKWA) has warned companies planning to stockpile goods in UK warehouses in an attempt to mitigate the impact of a no-deal Brexit on their supply chain that UK warehouses are approaching capacity. MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has received a clearance decision from the Chinese competition regulator, SAMR, for the company’s acquisition of the marine and offshore businesses of TTS Group ASA. Last month, we reported that the acquisition, announced in February 2018, had been delayed. CCT Alpherium, an inland waterway container terminal located in Alphen aan den Rijn, a mid-size town in the western Netherlands, has received its second Konecranes Flow Drive reachstacker in as many years, and placed an order for a third one. KION Group will join forces with BMZ Holding GmbH to form a joint venture under the name of KION Battery Systems GmbH. This joint venture will manufacture lithium-ion batteries for industrial trucks in the EMEA region. The two companies have signed an agreement, with each holding a 50% stake in the joint venture. Toyota Material Handling, USA has announced the approval of a new line-up of lithium-ion batteries for use in its three- and four-wheel electric sit-down models. Digital communication software specialist Ericsson has unveiled a new Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) on an end-to-end, standalone 5G network as part of a collaboration with China Mobile. JCB has announced a GBP25 million (USD31 million) investment in its Brazilian operations as the company gears up for growth. The investment was confirmed as JCB hosted the Governor of the State of São Paulo, João Doria, at the company’s World HQ in Staffordshire. A new report shows that by sharing equipment, the rental industry contributes to avoiding carbon emissions. The report, commissioned by the European Rental Association (ERA), found that efficient use lowers the total carbon footprint of equipment and that the rental business model stimulates efficient use.
