The latest quarterly market report from MHEDA and ITR Economics predicts that materials handling orders in the United States will continue to rise into early next year before the rate of growth slows. Konecranes, having manufactured straddle carriers at its Competence Centre in Würzburg, Germany since 1968 and supplied leading straddle carrier terminals around the globe, has delivered its 3,000th straddle carrier. Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift Europe (MCFE) has opened a new European rental and used truck centre in Almere, the Netherlands. JLG Industries has opened a new east coast parts distribution centre in Atlanta. The 316,000 sqft. (29,350 sqm) distribution centre will stock more than 65,000 separate items. Jungheinrich has received a major order for more than 1,000 lithium-ion vehicles. The manufacturer claims this is the largest order ever awarded for vehicles fitted with lithium-ion batteries anywhere in the world. It is also the largest vehicle order volume in the company’s history. A Riverside man who was severely injured in a workplace forklift accident in October 2013 that resulted in the partial amputation of his right leg has won a USD17 million verdict in a lawsuit against PennySaver USA. Fairchild Equipment has acquired the assets and Hyster forklift dealership rights of Arnold Machinery locations in Minnesota. Forklift Services of Oregon (FSO) has moved to a new facility in Portland, Oregon. The new 20,000 sqft. Singapore-based tower crane rental, sales and service specialist Crane World Asia is expanding its fleet with the addition of 13 new Terex CTL 260-18 luffing jib tower cranes. Konecranes has won another order for diesel-electric Gottwald Mobile Harbor Cranes from long-term customer SEA-invest. SEA-invest will add three Model 6 machines to its existing fleet of 36 cranes.
