Hamburg, Germany After 34 years of service in various companies within the KION Group, CFO Karl-Heinz Birkner will be retiring with effect from February 1, 2018. He will be succeeded by Thorsten Hofmann, currently head of corporate controlling at the KION Group in Wiesbaden. Cooper Materials Handling has been placed into administration, with Brett Barton and Tony Mitchell of Cranfield Business Recovery appointed as joint administrators. Goscor Lift Truck Company (GLTC), distributor of Crown in South Africa, has delivered its first Crown TSP VNA (very narrow aisle) turret truck to Botswana. Bharat Mumbai Container Terminals (BMCT), a wholly-owned subsidiary of PSA International Pte Ltd (PSA), has exercised its option to purchase a further 18 Konecranes Noell rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes. This order follows an initial order for 18 RTG and four RMG cranes that will be delivered by the end of this year. VETTER Forks has moved into a new 35,000 sqft. (3,250 sqm) facility in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.  The building is located within minutes of VETTER’s previous 15,000 sqft. (1,400 sqm) location. A logistics company has been fined SGD80,000 (USD58,595) for workplace safety and health breaches that led to an accident where a man was run over by a forklift. According to The Straits Times, the incident happened in 2015. An employee of THT Logistics, Chua Kiang Lik, was given the task of unloading cargo from a container. Canadian lithium-ion battery maker Electrovaya has secured initial purchase orders under a contract with Walmart Canada for its forklift battery systems. The retailer will convert the forklifts in one distribution centre from lead-acid batteries to Electrovaya’s drop-in lithium-ion battery systems.
