Sight and active signaling come together with RadarEye. Orlaco has developed this radar unit in addition to the camera- monitor systems. By combining this sight solution with an active signaling system, RadayEye offers additional safety and efficiency. Especially applicable for forklift applications.

Things can get very hectic wherever forklift trucks are in use. When driving, the forklift truck operator has to deal with various heights, valuable goods and constantly changing situations. Personal injury or material damage is just around the corner. This requires the operator to be constantly on the alert. Insufficient visibility restricts the driver in terms of speed and efficiency. A camera and monitor system provides the driver with maximum visibility around his forklift truck. The innovative RadarEye supplements the visibility solution by sounding active alarms to the operator when there is something or someone behind the forklift truck.

Active warning system
Orlaco designs, develops, produces and delivers professional camera and monitor systems for all machines, vehicles, and maritime vessels worldwide. The Dutch camera manufacturer has developed various visibility solutions for forklift trucks that meet high quality requirements. The camera system clearly visualizes the situation, enabling the operator to identify irregularities early, and to work safer, faster and in more comfort.

With the development of the RadarEye active warning system, Orlaco takes it one step further. This system unites maximum visibility and detection. The camera and monitor system provides the driver with additional visibility whenever he needs it. RadarEye warns several of the operator's senses with bright green, yellow and red signals when an object or person moves within the danger zone to the rear of the forklift truck. Anything that moves within this zone is visualised by the monitor, preventing both personal injury and material damage. The radar unit sounds an audible alarm, immediately and automatically activates the correct monitor and selects the correct camera.

Impervious to environmental influences
RadarEye is integrated with the vision solution. The radar unit and the camera(s) can be programmed and configured through the monitor. The detection radius is adjustable from 6.5 to 65.5 feet and is divided into five equal zones. The operator can view the monitor to confirm the radar unit is working properly. A signal will show when a defect appears.
The radar unit is not influenced by the environment, such as snow, rain, mud and or temperature changes. Especially beneficial to heavy forklifts, the reaction response time of these robust units is very fast. Also they are water, shock, and vibration resistant. Every application is unique, the operator can program the sensitivity in the monitor.

Large forklift trucks and container handlers in particular may benefit from this warning system. These machines have very big blind spots and the area around a forklift truck is a busy one. The cabins are closed, isolating the operator; as a result he cannot hear any external noise. In addition, the load (sea containers for instance) may start to sway, which needs the full focus of the operator. RadarEye keeps an eye on the rear, enabling the operator to concentrate on the load at the front of the forklift truck when reversing. Only when something or someone moves into the danger zone will RadarEye give an active signal, prompting the operator to look at the image on the monitor and act accordingly. Apart from the fact that it improves driving safety, it also enables the operator to work more efficiently and prevent any damage. RadarEye also has ergonomic benefits, as the operator no longer has to look over his shoulder all the time.
