The Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) is expanding a technical study program to 20 cities across the US.
The PERC this week announced the expansion of its Forklift Technician Maintenance & Training Program, for companies operating class four and five large spark ignition (LSI) propane forklifts, which began on June 22.
"The success of last year's pilot program demonstrated the value and need for expanding," said John Kamps, an independent propane marketer and PERC executive committee member.
"The propane industry is committed to helping forklift operators maximise their trucks' performance while adhering to workplace safety and air quality requirements."
The 2004 program, designed for pre-2002 open-loop forklifts, consists of a one-day course in the proper procedures for maintaining and repairing propane-powered forklift fuel systems.
The first batch of classes this year will be held in Atlanta (June 22), Houston (July 13), Dallas/Fort Worth (July 15), Sacramento (August 4) and Cerritos (August 10).
