Compact new truck 'rewrites rulebook'
Almere, NetherlandsMitsubishi Forklift Trucks says it is rewriting the rules for using electric forklifts with the launch of its 80V EDiA EX model.
Launched at Valencia's City of Arts and Science, in Spain, the EDiA EX could "fundamentally alter accepted warehouse practices, especially where space is at a premium".
Smaller than others in its 2.5-3.5 T capacity range, the EDiA EX truck can lift loads up to heights of 7 m (23 ft.).
Mitsubishi says the truck's unique steering configuration ¬- with rear steering wheels turning to an angle of more than 100 degrees and individual drive motors counter-rotating the front wheels - gives the truck agile steering and the ability to pivot within its own length.
The truck's IPX4 water protection feature means the electric truck can operate in wet environments. Emission-controlled sites no longer need a separate IC-engine truck for outdoor loading and unloading, Mitsubishi says.
EasyRoller pallet truck launched
Stourbridge, United KingdomEuropean Handling Equipment has introduced the Warrior EasyRoller pallet truck.
The company says the 2.5 T capacity pallet truck allows an operator to push down on the handle and move the truck with much less effort than would normally be required.
That enables users to easily negotiate small lips and ramps that would cause problems for standard loaded pallet trucks.
Instead of relying on a conventional friction drive, the EasyRoller's forward and backward travel is achieved via a direct mechanical drive system. However, the system can be disengaged to allow the EasyRoller to be used as a regular pallet truck.
